The Workshop 1924 is proud to be an ongoing sponsor of Show Jumping Auckland. Read on to learn about our 10 year partnership.

"Auckland Show Jumping and The Workshop 1924 have a wonderful working relationship which dates back to 2016.

The Workshop is much more than a sponsor to our voluntary non-profit show jumping group. We have a great partnership and no job is too large or small for The Workshop.

Over the years The Workshop has built bespoke projects, modified unique show jumping trailers, collected trailers from the show grounds to work on or for COFs, checked tyre pressures and painted jobs. The Workshop has also donated new truck services/products to the annual Auckland Show Jumping auction, a great way to support our organisation and create awareness of new services to our followers.

AKSJ cannot not speak highly enough about The Workshop. We really appreciate the wonderful relationship we have and look forward to working with them in the future."

Gabriel Thackham

The Workshop 1924 is proud to sponsor Gabriel Thackham, who was chosen to represent the NZ Ironblacks during their 2026 international test match against Australia. Read on to learn about Gabriel's journey to be selected for the NZ Ironblacks.

"Representing New Zealand has always been one of my greatest aspirations. Like many athletes, I have spent years working towards the opportunity to wear my country's colours and proudly represent my family on the international stage. For me, that opportunity came through American football, a sport that continues to grow throughout New Zealand and is driven by passionate players, coaches, volunteers.

My journey to the NZ IronBlacks has been a long one, shaped by commitment, resilience, and a determination to continually improve. From the first time I stepped onto the field, I developed a genuine passion for the game. It was from then that I knew this was something I wanted to take all the way to the top.

Throughout this journey, I have experienced challenges that have tested my determination. Injuries and illnesses had set me back in the pass, forcing me to miss possible international opportunities earlier in my career. Rather than allowing these experiences to define me, I used them as motivation to improve, learn, and return stronger.

Receiving confirmation that I had been selected to represent the NZ Iron Blacks was one of the proudest moments of my life. It represented years of dedication, hard work, and sacrifice. More importantly, it gave me to opportunity to build a brotherhood with my newfound teammates, a brotherhood that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

This achievement also reflects the support I have received throughout my journey. My family, friends, teammates, coaches, employers, sponsors and the wider football community have all contributed in different ways, providing encouragement, guidance, and belief during both the highs and lows. Their support has played a significant role in helping me reach this milestone, and I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has contributed along the way.

The test match against Australia was truly an incredible honour, from singing the national Anthem, to performing the Haka, and playing a hard-fought game that we would eventually win is something I would wish for any sports person to experience. 

The emotion everyone felt in that moment of victory was indescribable, especially when family joined you on the field to celebrate the moment with you. This victory was not only important to us players but also for New Zealand American Football, being the first time New Zealand had won an international test match. Being able to be a part of such a historical moment for a sport I’m so passionate about, alongside my brothers and with my family in the stands cheering me on meant the world and I will never forget it.

This experience has been invaluable, and I am grateful for everyone who supported my journey. I am excited to continue improving and looking forward to the next opportunity to wear the silver fern."
